An innovative new version of Dunkin' Donuts has opened in Boston.

CBS Boston reports the first-ever "digital-only" restaurant has opened at 22 Beacon Street next to Boston Common.

The "digital-only" store will only accept orders placed in advance through the Dunkin' mobile app or at an in-store kiosk, which will be available for contactless pickup in designated areas, while still offering a full menu of traditional Dunkin' favorites.

“The digital-only location offers Dunkin’s full menu of quality products fans know and love, and the traditional order counter is replaced with two in-store digital kiosks where guests will be able to place a customized order and pay for it using cash, credit card, or a DD gift card,” Dunkin’ said in a statement obtained by CBS Boston.

Dunkin' said the contactless method will eliminate employee interaction and “create an efficient, more convenient, and frictionless experience" for on-the-go customers.

The "digital-only" location will not include dining room.

The store is set to hold its grand opening on Tuesday (September 14) -- despite having initially opened in August -- in celebration of a $1,000 donation made by the local nonprofit Bridge Over Troubled Waters.

Last month, the Massachusetts-based company announced its plans to launch its "pumpkin packed" fall menu on August 18, earlier than ever before.

The national donut and coffee chain added several items this year, including the new Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte.

The fall menu also includes several returning favorites, including Pumpkin Flavored Coffees, Donuts, Muffins and MUNCKINS Donut Hole Treats.

Additionally, customers will be treated to a medium Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew or medium Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte for the special price of $3 through September 14 while supplies last.
