BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's all upgrades over at the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center (EBNHC), which is now outfitted with a brand new CT scanner as part of its multi-million dollar renovation efforts.

President and CEO Greg Wilmot tells WBZ's Carl Stevens that EBNHC has the fourth busiest emergency department in the city, something that will be able to reach even more people with its new equipment.

"We've actually rebuilt the entire department, the rooms have all been rebuilt, and added a CT scan, which gives us new capabilities for imaging and state-of-the-art equipment that we've implemented here in the community," Wilmot said

The upgrades arrive at a good time too, since the summertime shutdown of the Sumner Tunnel has made it difficult for East Boston residents to reach downtown by car.

"It's really important because when we're able to provide emergency care in the community, it relieves some of the burden on some of our city's academic centers," Wilmot said.
