BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) announced that an eighth child died due to the flu during the week of Feb. 15.

DPH said there have been more than 300 adult deaths in the state associated with the flu as well. The CDC has reported that 90 children have died across the country from the flu, and about 85% of them were not vaccinated.

Although flu activity in Massachusetts is currently listed as moderate, and local flu-related hospitalizations are trending downward since peaking in late December, health experts are urging people to get their flu shots and stay protected.
