BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston saw another night of peaceful protests demanding justice for George Floyd and an end to police brutality.
A demonstration was held in Jamaica Plain at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Hundreds gathered near the Soldiers Monument at the intersection of Centre and South Streets.
One woman at the demonstration discussed who has been turning up to protest police brutality
“What I hear lately is that Black officials should be doing something because the rioting is not helping. But, organizations like the NAACP have been peacefully protesting the systemic bigotry and mistreatment of people for years. And still here we are today, still marching for basic rights,” she said.
First Church in Jamaica Plain also rang its bell nine times to symbolize the 8 minutes and 46 seconds that an officer held a knee on George Floyd's neck.
A silent vigil was also held in Roslindale Thursday at Adams Park.
