Massachusetts Passes 7,200 Coronavirus Deaths

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Friday, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported another 494 cases of coronavirus, bringing the state's total number of cases to 102,557.

The state DPH also confirmed an additional 35 COVID-related deaths, upping the state's total coronavirus death toll to 7,235.

Nearly 22,000 of those cases, and more than 4,500 of those deaths, were reported at long-term care facilities in Massachusetts.

While the average age of total patients with confirmed cases is 52 years, the average age of deaths in COVID-19 cases in the Commonwealth is 82 years.

Three out of the six key health metrics that will guide the state's reopening timeline are now listed as "Positive Trend," while three other metrics are still considered "In Progress."
