Update: The coyote has been confirmed to have been rabid.
EXETER, New Hampshire (WBZ NewsRadio) — A father in New Hampshire killed a coyote with his bare hands Monday morning after it attacked him and his son. Authorities said the same animal attacked people in three different towns.
The first report of the coyote came around 8:40 a.m., when Hampton Falls Police got a call it had attacked a car on Drinkwater Road near the Hampton Falls-Kensington border.
Twenty minutes later, Kensington Police said the coyote attacked a 62-year-old woman and her two dogs on Hemlock Road. The coyote had gotten inside her three-season porch and attacked her dogs after they opened a sliding door.
"While the homeowner was fighting to keep the coyote out of the house she was bitten," the department wrote on their Facebook page.
She was taken to Exeter Hospital for a first round of rabies shots, and will get a second round later this week. Her dogs were also treated with rabies booster shots.
Around 11 a.m., the coyote attacked a father and son as they walked on a trail in Exeter.
"The child’s dad went into protection mode and suffocated the coyote until it succumbed," Kensington Police said.
Kensington Police said New Hampshire Fish and Game have the coyote and will test it for rabies.
