KINGSTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Getting back to normal on the South Shore is a marathon following Monday’s massive blizzard.

Public workers are still clearing away nearly three feet of snow that was dumped from the storm.

“It’s been brutal, it’s been cold,” Joe from Plymouth told WBZ NewsRadio, whose home has been out of power since Monday.

“I got kids so we’re going to warm the house up right now with the generator,” he continued.

Eversource said more than 2,000 crews have been working around the clock to restore power there and on Cape Cod. Those areas were hit especially hard by the blizzard.

"Many of the crews haven't gone home," Doug Foley, Eversource President of Electric Operations for Massachusetts, said. "They are working 18-hour shifts, bedding down for six hours, and they're back at it."

Several school districts, including Brockton and Plymouth, announced classes are canceled for the rest of the week.

“The February vacation that never ends,” one resident said, adding that some side roads are still awaiting to be plowed.

And that has been a challenge for delivery drivers, like Genaro of Brockton.

“Delivery it took me about three hours,” he said. “A little bit longer than normal [because] most of the people don’t have their drive ways plowed.”
