DORCHESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — An investigation is underway after a postal carrier was robbed at gunpoint in Dorchester Thursday evening.
According to Boston Police, it happened around 5:40 p.m. near the post office in the area of Talbot and Welles avenues. The suspect took the carrier's master key and fled on Talbot Avenue towards Washington Street. The carrier was unharmed in the incident.
Police described the suspect as a light skinned Hispanic male in their late teens-early 20’s and with a thin build, wearing a dark colored hooded sweater, gray sweatpants, and a black ski mask.
A similar incident happened in Randolph on Wednesday afternoon. Police said a USPS mail carrier was assaulted by two masked men dressed all in black within the Rosemont Square Apartment Complex.
The assailants stole an "arrow key," a master key for USPS mailboxes, Randolph Police said. The postal worker suffered injuries to his ribs as a result of the attack.
