BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - A wintry mix is heading through the northeast, bringing heavy rain and ice to some areas. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of Worcester County, northwestern Middlesex County and the Berkshires through noon Thursday.

There is a possibility of some light sleet and freezing rain early on in this storm that could leave a light glaze to the roads Thursday morning, anywhere in the northern Worcester Hills, and places with higher elevations like the Berkshires into Vermont and interior New Hampshire. The freezing rain could linger into the mid-morning before being washed out by rain.

There will be a second wave of rain late Thursday into early Friday, without the icing concerns. It will most likely taper off before dawn Friday.

Temperatures will stay in the 30s in the north and 40s in the south. As rain moves out by Friday morning, those temperatures will move out too, as we reached highs in the 50s and 60s.

The weekend won't be a total washout. We will see showers from time to time but nothing monumental.

Early next week, we'll feel the effects of another Artic shot of air, with highs on Monday stuck somewhere in the 30s and lows by Tuesday morning dropping into the teens.
