Patriots Have Released Antonio Brown

After just 11 days with the team, Antonio Brown's time in New England is up.

Antonio Brown took to Twitter to thank the Patriots for his time there and said that he has been released by the team. The Patriots have released a statement a short time after:

Patriots’ statement: “The New England Patriots are releasing Antonio Brown. We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time.”

The New England Patriots let go of the seven-time Pro Bowl receiver Friday following allegations of rape and sexual assault that have come up in the past several weeks.

On Thursday night, Sports Illustrated’s Robert Klemko tweeted out screenshots of texts. The messages were reportedly sent on Wednesday from Brown to a woman who told SI she was sexually harassed by Brown at his home while she painted. In the texts allegedly sent by Brown, the overall tone is threatening.

There's a chance that Brown could still draw interest in the open market after being named first-team All-Pro four times and leading the NFL in touchdowns last year. But it is looking more and more likely that it would be tough for an NFL team to pick him up.
