The Department of Justice is taking on the task of looking into potentially charging (if laws were indeed broken) Oakland California Mayor Libby Schaaf. The "hometown hero" got word of a potential operation that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) was preparing to conduct in her city. Crime within these communities have always been an issue, and something that is seen as a black eye from the outside. Libby decided instead to warn the immigrants in question in order to allow them to what criminals do best, RUN.
Well I would have to assume that the "progressive" Mayor knows that a federal agency wont stand for this collusion, but she may be betting with house money. If anything is done in an attempt to prosecute Schaaf, its incredibly likely that protests would erupt quicker than you saw in Berkely. Now, according to ICE acting director Thomas Homan (on Fox News), the agency is "reviewing" whether any laws were broken. This caused Libby to double down and stick to her guns.
ICE was still able to arrest over 150 people in the Bay Area, but they blame Schaaf for assisting 864 "public safety threats" in fleeing. Homan made an interesting comparison on the Fox News program, that should resonate with anyone unsure as to whether or not the Mayors warning was indeed criminal.

Per Libby's follow up tweet, she is under the belief that as a sanctuary state and city she was completely righteous in warning her "citizens." What may be tough for her to understand is that warning potential criminals of a federal agency attempting to apprehend said criminals does not fall under her cute sanctuary umbrella. There needs to be a precedent set, and it needs to start with Mayor Libby Schaaf.
