President Trump announced on Twitter that he will address the nation tonight before traveling later in the week to the U.S.-Mexico border. His speech will highlight border security and press Democrats for wall funding amid a partial government shutdown.

"I am pleased to inform you that I will Address the Nation on the Humanitarian and National Security crisis on our Southern Border. Tuesday night at 9:00 P.M. Eastern," Trump tweeted on Monday.

Trump plans to address the nation in a prime-time speech from the Oval Office, for the first in his presidency.

He will be traveling to the border on Thursday. These travel plans were revealed by White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders on Twitter.
