Thomas Bowes, Merit Rating Board director has been fired in the wake of a deadly New Hampshire motorcycle crash.
Acting Registrar Jamey Tesler said on Tuesday, “Clearly there needs to be some new leadership and a new path going forward.”
Bowes lawyer, Leonard Kesten, said the Massachusetts Department of Transportation should be taking responsibility across all levels “from the bottom up,” rather than firing his client.
Bowes is the second Registry of Motor Vehicles official to lose their job. Registrar Erin Deveney was replaced by Tesler days after the crash.
Bowes is running for mayor in Braintree where he also serves as city councilor.
