Andover Public Schools propose new school start times.
Andover middle and high school students start class at 7:45 a.m., while students in elementary school start one hour later.
The school district is discussing shifting all school start times back between 30 and 45 minutes. This means middle and high school students would start between 8:15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and elementary schools would start class between 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
The district is also considering flipping school start times. Elementary students would start school between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Middle and high school students would start between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m.
However, Andover parents are not happy with this proposal. The Andover school committee was met with opposition at Wednesday’s night hearing. Parents call this proposal “too drastic” for their children.
The school board will not vote on a decision until November.
