Lightning in a Bottle: Exhibit “A “Brewing Company’s Panda Punch

Panda Punch Kettle Sour

Exhibit “A” Brewing Company

ABV: 6.1%

Style: Fruited Kettle Sour

Tasting Notes: Guava, Tartness, Orange

Feedback:

This beer packs a Kung Fu Panda “punch”! Not a knockout (and I mean that positively) but a good punch which is what I’m looking for in my sour. I don’t want to be overwhelmed with tartness to the point I’m discouraged to take another sip. I want a refreshingly tangy, tart, punch to my taste buds. If you are into sour beers, then this is certainly a beer to try as we head into Summer now that Memorial Day has passed and we’ve “unofficially” kicked off Summer. What makes this sour different is that it’s a tropical fruit sour. I like the guava and passion fruit notes that are used in this sour. Most of the time I see sours comprised only of traditional fruit ingredients that you expect in a sour like orange, grapefruit, or cherry. While I like orange a lot (and it’s used in this sour), it’s refreshing to see a tropical twist in there to make this sour different. I give this kettle sour 4.3 out of 5 Panda punches!

For those who don’t know what the difference between a kettle sour and a regular sour is in short, the process. Kettle sours are usually made in a stainless-steel kettle and can be brewed fairly quickly over the course of a day(s). Standard sours tend to be brewed in barrels and to achieve that real sour punched taste can take months to years. Really kettle sours are like quick soured puckers.

Also, don’t sleep on Exhibit’s “Sunday Paper” Imperial Stout with Coffee Stout. That beer was delicious! I like a good stout every once in a while, almost as a night cap. It’s more of a dessert beer to me, that’s how I treat it. It’s not a beer I drink with food or a meal. The notes that hit me upon first drinking was a chocolate and naturally coffee taste. Yum! Just like a Sunday Paper, take your sweet time with this stout. It’s not a gulper! Kick back and enjoy this on Sunday night like I did (funny enough)! I give this stout 4.6 out of 5 coffees!

Overall:

Panda Punch Score: 4.3 out of 5 Panda punches!

Sunday Paper Score: 4.6 out of 5 coffees!

Cheers,

Lightning
